The district NRM Chairperson, Wilson Byaboona, held a meeting with all aspiring MPs and LC5 candidates across the district. Some opposed joint campaigns, while others argued that they promote cohesion and strengthen internal party democracy.

Aspiring National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearers for the positions of Member of Parliament and LC5 in Kyegegwa district disagreed on the idea of holding joint campaigns, with some saying it could lead to conflicts among themselves.

During a meeting at the district headquarters on Tuesday, 1 June, organised by district NRM Chairperson Mr Wilson Byaboona, all aspiring MPs and LC5 flag bearers in the district gathered to discuss how joint campaigns could be successful. While some aspirants opposed joint campaigns, others maintained that such efforts build unity and develop internal party democracy.

However, citing NRM election regulations, the deputy NRM registrar for Kyegegwa, Twashaba Godden Byayesu, clarified that each candidate must develop their own campaign programme and notify the party office accordingly.

Meanwhile, Mr Yosam Bagyenda, the NRM elections officer for Kyegegwa district, together with Mr Byaboona, the district party chairperson, vowed to take disciplinary action against any candidates who cause disruption. They also warned against the use of hateful speech during campaigns.
