Six candidates have shown interest to contest as National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearers on Chairpersonship of a newly established Kabuye subcounty in Kibale East Constituency Kamwenge district.
Curved out of Biguli subcounty, Kabuye subcounty is made up of three parishes of Mitaama, Mukukuuru, and Kabuye. As per the schedule, area residents have been yet to elect their leaders, starting from the LCIII chairperson, district councilors (Male and Female), and parish councilors from each parish.
Among the candidates who have shown interest to carry NRM flag for subcounty chairperson, is Joseph Bitara Twinomwabo, a businessman in Kabuye Central trading centre, Henry Kamugisha, the current LCII chairperson for Kabuye parish, Turyahabwe Livingston Sebondo, the LCI chairperson for Mukukuuru village, and Monday Patrick, former parish councilor for Kabuye parish.
Others are: David Twijukye, the former Head teacher Damtsko Primary school, and Tushabe Emmanuel.
All the six have already picked nomination forms. They are pledging for best service in Kabuye subcounty, ranging from infrastructural development, health care and education.
“I have decided to lead Kabuye with commitment, because I was born here, so I understand what the community members in this area want, and what it takes for this area to develop”, said Monday Patrick during an interview with our reporter.
While speaking to Kyaka FM, Residents in Kabuye subcounty say they deserve a leader who is not discriminative in serving his people, noting that they are committed to voting carefully.
According to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) roadmap, the nomination period for LC3 chairpersons, LC3 councilors, and LC4 (municipality division councilors) began on 29 July, 2025, nomination forms will be returned on 5 August, 2025. Elections are scheduled for August 15, 2025.
