In a renewed effort to tackle rampant bodaboda theft and uplifting industry standards, riders in Busiriba Sub County, Kamwenge District, have been cautioned against practices which authorities say are fuelling disappearance of motorcycles in the area.
During a recent security meeting convened at the Sub County headquarters on Sunday 3 August, leadership of Busiriba bodaboda association, alongside area political leaders and security agencies, outlined key strategies to stem the growing wave of theft targeting riders. The meeting cited risky behavior such as late-night businesses, allowing self-drive hires, riding without identification, recruiting underage riders, and alcoholism _as major contributors to the problem.
Emmanuel Turyatemba, also known as Kasozi, the Chairperson of the Bodaboda Association in Busiriba, urged riders to abandon such habits and unite in the fight against motorcycle theft.

Other stage leaders including Justus Kyarisiima, Mathius Byaruhanga, and Alex Mugarura pledged to discipline and sensitize their members on good practices to protect the industry.
Hajji Assad Mugarura Kashaki, the LC3 Chairperson for Busiriba, together with area district Councillor Julius Byaruhanga popularly known as Finest, committed to working closely with high-ranking security officials to weed out criminal elements threatening the bodaboda sector.
