Residents from the villages of Bisingoma in Kishagazi Parish and Kihumuro in Kijongobya Parish, Ruyonza Sub county, Kyegegwa District, on Monday, 11 August 2025, took part in a community development exercise aimed at improving the local road network.

Known locally as Burungi bwansi, the activity was carried out at the Rwembwera minor bridge, where locals from the two villages worked together to install two lines of culverts recently donated by the Kyaka South legislator and Deputy Attorney General of Uganda, Hon. Jackson Kafuuzi Karugaba.

Speaking to our reporter after the exercise, Philip Muhwezi, the LCI Chairperson of Bisingoma, expressed regret over the difficulties residents have long faced in accessing services in the neighbouring village of Kihumuro. He commended Minister Kafuuzi for his initiative in improving social services for the community.

Other residents from the two villages of Bisingoma and Kihumuro, including Robert Tumusiime, the Director of Excel Junior School in Bisingoma, described the difficulties locals — particularly schoolchildren — had faced in crossing the now-repaired minor bridge.

While addressing the gathering, the NRM Chairperson for Ruyonza Sub-county, Habert Tayebwa — who also serves as Political Assistant to the area MP, Jackson Kafuuzi Karugaba — urged residents to always vote for leaders with the capacity to deliver better services through lobbying.
