Stakeholders in Ruyonza Sub county, Kyegegwa District, particularly members of the Ruwenzori Anti-Corruption Coalition, are calling for improved services, especially in the health sector.
The concerns were raised on Wednesday, 20 August, during a Sub County People’s Parliamentary Forum, which brings together community members to discuss issues of service delivery, focusing on sectors such as health, education, and production.
During the meeting held at the sub county headquarters in Ruyonza, members of the Ruwenzori Anti-Corruption Coalition, led by their chairperson Nabbasa Judith, highlighted numerous issues observed during their previous monitoring activities.
Among the concerns raised were the long-delayed non-commissioned general ward at Karwenyi Health Centre III, the lack of an incinerator and water at the same facility, and understaffing.
Other issues included poor workmanship on the Bujubili–Kishagazi–Byabakora–Kijongoby–Kabani road, which was recently constructed with funding from the Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project (DRDIP).
In response to some of the issues raised by members, the Senior Assistant Secretary for Ruyonza Sub county, Nahabwe Syria, said they are only waiting for the district to officially hand over the general ward, which is now ready after the contractor completed the work.
For her part, Victoria Businge, the Communication and Documentation Officer of the Ruwenzori Anti-Corruption Coalition, who also attended the meeting, revealed that a number of issues were addressed, adding that those still pending would be forwarded to a higher level of management, such as the district level.
