As Uganda heads into the 2026 general elections, the Bishop of Ruwenzori Diocese in the Province of the Anglican Church of Uganda, His Grace Reuben B. Kisembo, has called for both peaceful campaigns and elections.
Bishop Reuben Kisembo delivered the message on Tuesday, 26 August, at the conclusion of a two-day official visit to Kazinga Parish, Karwenyi Archdeaconry, where he also confirmed over 100 Christians into the Anglican faith at St. Barnabas Church of Uganda Sayuni “B,” located in Kazinga Town Council, Kyegegwa District.
He further urged security agencies, particularly the UPDF and Police, not to assault people during campaigns, emphasising that all candidates from various political parties should be allowed to campaign freely, enabling Ugandans to choose their leaders without intimidation.
Bishop Reuben further insisted that parents should supplement government efforts by providing financial support to public schools to ensure the smooth learning of their children.
In his closing message, he encouraged Christians to participate actively in politics, while warning them against being swayed by money and voting for people incapable of analysing issues.
Meanwhile, in his address, Rev. Mesearch Maiten of Kazinga Parish, the host, together with Mothers’ Union leader Loice Talemwa, praised Bishop Reuben for the vital role he played in confirming over 200 Christians during his two-day visit to St. Barnabas Church of Uganda Sayuni “B” and St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Kakunyu, respectively.
