Kyegegwa: Bishop Reuben Kisembo calls for peace ahead of the country’s 2026 general election

As Uganda heads into the 2026 general elections, the Bishop of Ruwenzori diocese in the province of the Anglican church of Uganda his grace Reuben B Kisembo, has called for both peaceful campaigns and elections.

Bishop Reuben Kisembo’s message was contained in his communication he delivered on Tuesday, 26th August as he concluded a two-day official visit in Kazinga Parish, Karwenyi archdeaconry where he also confirmed over 100 Christians into the Anglican religion at St. Barnabas Church of Uganda Sayuni “‘B” located in Kazinga town council Kyegegwa district.

He also discouraged the security agencies in the country especially UPDF and Police against assaulting people during campaigns, adding that there should be a leveled ground for all candidates from other political parties to campaign freely such that Ugandans can choose whom they want to lead them.

Bishop Reuben further insisted that parents must supplement on government effort by contributing financial support in government schools for the smooth learning of their children

In his climax message, he encouraged Christians to join active politics as he also warned them against being influenced by money and end up voting people with no capacity to analyze issues.

Meanwhile in his communication, Rev Mesearch Maiten of Kazinga Parish the host, together with the mothers’ union leader Loice Talemwa, lauded Bishop Reuben for the vital role he played by confirming over 200 Christians during his two-day visit at St. Barnabas Church of Uganda Sayuni “‘B” and St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Kakunyu respectively
