The Community Empowerment Network (TCEN) Uganda has launched tree planting in schools and communities of Kyegegwa district, in a bid to avert effects of climate change as a result of human activities.
The Community Empowerment Network (TCEN) Uganda, is a based community organization majorly operating in Mpara town council and some parts of the entire district of Kyegegwa including Kyaka II refugee settlement camp.
The organization is aiming at creating a nurturing environment that empowers individuals, improving agricultural practices and championing environmental awareness.

While launching the campaign at Ibiri parents’ primary school and Kakindo primary school that are both located in Mpara town council respectively, Sunday Medard the Chief Executive Officer the Community Empowerment Network (TCEN) Uganda, revealed that about 92% of the locals in the district use charcoal and firewood to prepare food which possess a great threat on environment.
He also added that they have patterned with Kakindo primary school to plant 1000 tree seedlings with a future plan of impacting the whole communities in the district through tree planting.

Sunday also roared that its every one’s responsibility to protect the environment through tree planting and also avoiding encroaching on wetlands.

Both Milton Twinamasiko the school director Ibiri parents and Muhairwe Habert Alfred the school head teacher Kakindo primary school, embraced the initiative of the Community Empowerment Network (TCEN) Uganda.

On their part, the learners also vowed to collaboration with their parents to practice tree planting at their homes to curb the effects of climate change through environmental protection.
