In a series of activities that included a parents’ meeting, exhibitions, and the launch of the school’s silver jubilee year, held on Saturday, 25th October, at the school premises in Biguli town council, Kamwenge district, parents were impressed by numerous science and technology innovations exhibited by different club members, such as those from the Food and Nutrition Club and the Educate Club, which manufactures plastic bricks and pavers from used bottles and polythene bags.

Besides already earning income from their innovations, Nasasira Emmanuel, a Senior Three student at Biguli SS and a member of the Educate Club, explained to parents how the process works. He also highlighted additional benefits such as soil conservation and combating climate change resulting from human activities.

Elias Katumire, the Head Teacher of Biguli SS, noted that the students’ innovations have not only generated income for them, helping them earn pocket money and clear part of their school fees, but have also contributed to environmental protection.

Katumire further urged parents to support their children’s innovations, emphasising that the school’s academic performance has continued to improve since its establishment in 1999.
