There was a standing ovation on Wednesday, 8 January 2026, at Nyakatoma Primary School in Mpara Sub county, Kyegegwa District, as thousands of National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters welcomed the area Member of Parliament for Kyaka South, Kyegegwa District, and Minister, Jackson Kafuuzi during his mobilisation drive ahead of the 15 January presidential and parliamentary polls.

The campaign, dubbed the Kyaka South Sub county presidential campaign, attracted thousands of Minister Kafuuzi’s supporters from across Mpara Sub-county, with local artists entertaining the crowd.

Accompanied by his spouse, Monica Kafuuzi, the minister reiterated the government’s commitment to the construction of St Mary’s Nyakatoma Seed Secondary School, noting that the government has already earmarked over UGX 3 billion for the project and that a contract has been signed.

The construction of St Mary’s Nyakatoma Seed Secondary School is expected to significantly improve education in the area, complementing developments such as the Rwentuha and Ruyonza schools, which are pending commissioning.
