Fort-Portal high court orders over 150 families to vacate Kajumbura land, pay general damages worth Ugx 749 million.

Over 150 households residing on the contested land of one Proscovia Kajumbura that is located in Ruyonza sub county Kyegegwa district, are seeking for the immediate intervention of H.E YK Museveni following threats of eviction court order.

Court documents indicates that for the past 06 years, 20 residents from the same area who include Fred Mushabe the area local council one chairperson, Nyaisaija Solom, Kurabiraho Moses, Twinamasiko Eldad among others, have been battling a land case in For-Portal high court with one Proscovia Kajumbura who claims to be the rightful owner of the titled land.

The contested land that court ruled in favor of Proscovia Kajumbura on the 19th Feb, 2026, currently residing in London, is comprised of block 99 FRV1260 folio 13 plot 18: FRV 1260 folio 10 plot 19: FRV folio 11 plot 20: FRV 1260 folio 12 plot 22 and 1260 folio 104 plot 23 at Kajumbura land, Karwenyi, Mpara Kyaka county, Kyenjojo district, present day, Kyegegwa district.

“The defendants are given 03 months from the date of this judgement within which to vacate the entire suit land, in default of which, an order for eviction of the defendants and vacant possession of the suit land hereby issued shall promptly be executed” the judgements read in parts.

The same verdict also put to task Fred Mushabe (the 1st defendant), Nyaisaija Solom (2nd   defendant) Kurabiraho Moses (the 3rd defendant) and Mwesigye Wilson (20th defendant) to pay the general damages to the plaintiff worth Ugx 500,000,000 with interest both totaling to Ugx 749 million.

In a meeting with the affected residents held at Kajumbura Nursery and Primary School on Thursday 24th, that intended to comfort them, chaired by the deputy RDC Kyegegwa Winnie Kyakuhaire, the stacked residents including biological brothers and sisters of Kajumbura, demanded for the intervention of the head of state and government to compensate Kajumbura so that they can stay on their land freely.

Mushabe Byron Mabondo, the district councilor Ruyonza sub county who in person attended the meeting, started by expressing his grief to the judiciary before appealing for the documentation of all lands with issues in the district and be submitted to the President for the affirmative action.

 In her communication, Winnie Kyakahaire the deputy RDC Kyegegwa re-echoed Museveni’s call of not evicting people urging to remain calm. “No eviction can take place without the consent of the District Security Committee”, Winnie added.

However, when contacted for a comment using different media platforms, Kajumbura, referred our reporter to her lawyers.

“Now because I am far away, I have my attorney whom you will have to meet on my behalf and I have given them very important information that you need and might be of very good help for anyone who wants to know facts about my home land” Kajumbura text in a Whats App message.
