Albetong district leaders have resolved that no pupil should be sent back home for not paying school fees but to rather face off with their parents. This was revealed over the weekend by the district chairman Dickens Kennedy Odongo while speaking at a function at Apami primary school.

According to Odongo, they have realized that returning pupils to their parents over unpaid fees was contributing to poor performances in examinations because the children end up missing lessons during the period that they are back home.

The district boss says it is unfair to punish children and to make them miss lessons yet they are not directly responsible for paying their school fees. He explained that the extra charges that are levied by UPE schools are not exorbitant and sees no reason why parents shouldn’t pay the monies in time.

Mr. Odongo further explained that the district leadership is soon holding a meeting to decide on the timeline by which parents should complete paying school fees and warned that punitive action shall be taken on defaulters.
