Otto said that their preferred tree species for charcoal farming is currently “Okuto Ongono,” that is called Acacia Polyacantha, the species that Kijani Forestry is encouraging farmers to grow since the tree species grow well in northern Uganda.

According Otto, the species grow fast, the charcoal is solid and when cut, it sprouts back enabling continuity for a long time.
