Nancy Atimango, an aspiring Woman Member of Parliament for Gulu district in northern Uganda, is severely injured following a serious road crash which occurred on Tuesday evening, 10th June 2025 at around 3pm.

Atimango was travelling to Awach Town Council as part of her consultation ahead of the 2026 general elections, when the vehicle, their Prado vehicle registration number UAP 908S, overturned twice shortly after negotiating a corner.

The vehicle had branched off some 10 km away from the Gulu-Kitgum road, heading to Latwong Trading Centre.

According to the police, the front left tyre of the vehicle flattened, leading the car to overturn twice.

Photos and videos posted on social media showed Atimango being rushed to Awach Health Centre IV for emergency medical responses, while in a critical condition.

In a statement on Tuesday evening, David Ongom Mudong, the Police Spokesperson for Aswa West, said the victim was transferred to St Mary`s Hospital Lacor in Gulu City, where her condition was stabilising.

Nancy Atimango is soliciting votes to carry the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag to contest in the Gulu district Woman Member of Parliament seat.

In the 2021 general election, Atimango contested to represent the people of Gulu East in Gulu City in parliament under the NRM ticket, a position she lost to Reverend Father Charles Onen, an independent candidate.
