Kyegegwa district local government is set to receive additional funding of Ugx 358 million in the next financial year, under the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Program (UWEP) due to its exceptional recovery rate of funds.
This was revealed by John Engabi the regional officer joint program of Youth livelihood program (YLP) and UWEP, and Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development during a service delivery stakeholders meeting, held on Friday November 7 at the district headquarters.
Engabi castigated that the recovery rate in UWEP, currently stands at 84% surpassing the national recovery rate that is approximately at 24% as of early 2025.
He also highlighted that since the inception of the program in the district in financial year 2016/2017, Ugx 1.3billion have been received and Ugx 604million have been recovered. More than 1,800 individuals from 150 groups have benefited from the program.
On YLP, Engabi resonated that Ugx 705million (61%) have been recovered out of Ugx 1.7billion received, recounting that 1974 members from 185 groups are among the beneficiaries. He added that additional funds Ugx 113million have been earmarked under the same program in the next financial year.

In his presentation, Titus Ouma the senior programs officer in charge of Social Assistance Grant for Empowerment (SAGE), says the budget under SAGE program is expected to be increased by Ugx 265billion following lowering of the age of SAGE beneficiaries from 80 to 65 years, in response to the public outcry.
He also noted other programs where Kyegegwa district was considered, including Special Enterprise Grant for Older Persons (SEGOP), and the Social Cash Transfer for Elderly Refugees, a program that government intends to rollout in all refugee hosting districts.
Titus on SAGE

Fred Ngabirano the commissioner for Youth and Children affairs, Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social development, attributed all the good performance of government programs such as SAGE, UWEP and YLP, to the good cooperation about the district leadership both technical and political wing.
Ngabirano also lauded Hon Flavia Rwabuhoro the Woman MP Kyegegwa district who fought tooth and nail when she was still chairing the committee of Gender, ensuring that their budget increases from Ugx 640million to over Ugx 1.65billion.

For her Part, Hon Kabahenda Flavia Rwabuhoro, pledged to continue advocating for the social wellbeing of her people especially the special interest groups such as the PWD’s, youth, older persons and women among others.
