Parish Chiefs in Nakaseke told off Parish Development Money

Today Nakaseke District Commercial Officer held a Meeting with all Stakeholders comprised of parish Chiefs, Community Development Officer, Extension officers and political leaders from Nakaseke South Consistency.

This sensitizing meeting was intended to make all   stakeholders understand their roles in the new PDM guidelines. The new guidelines all PDM are going to operate and managed as a SACCO at the parish level. The Commercial Officer urged all parish chiefs not to involve themselves into any act of procurement of goods to the beneficially neither should they ask them any money to support the operation of their SACCOs.

Parish chiefs were taken through all the dos and don’ts of the Parish Development Model. The Facilitator Mr. Robert Kaggwa urged them not to tamper and ask any money from the beneficiary because this money was designed by the government to help the local poor people at household level to come out of poverty.  All parish Chiefs received copies of the guidelines from the Ministry of Finance.

He also urged all stakeholders not to mix any politics in development because the main aim of this money is intended to help the community to fight poverty through investing in the enterprises of their choice and appealed to the extensionist to help the farmers by giving them good guidance and proper calculations on the selection of enterprises to ensure that they don’t make losses.
