Teachers at Kakukuru Primary School in Kajuzya parish, Nkungu subcounty, Kazo district, have laid down their tools in protest against what they describe as disrespect from the school’s foundation body, Kajuzya Church of Uganda, under Nkungu Archdeaconry in North Ankole Diocese.
Speaking to Radio 5 FM, the school’s headteacher, Obadiah Bantu, revealed that on February 16, 2025, the foundation body, led by Rev. Kellen Nabaasa, introduced new rules and regulations without consulting the school’s administration.
Bantu further stated that the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), the School Management Committee, and the parents were not informed about the meeting or the new regulations imposed on the school.
Despite the ongoing strike, Bantu has urged the teachers to resume their duties, emphasizing that their absence is affecting innocent pupils.
He also called upon the North Ankole Diocese and the Kazo District Education Department to intervene and find a lasting solution to the crisis.
