The long-awaited Parish Development Model (PDM) funds have finally been disbursed to Sacco groups in Bardyang parish in Adok subcounty, Dokolo district.

This comes after 42 group members raised concerns over alleged irregularities and corruption involving some group leaders, which had caused delays in the disbursement process.

Patrick Oringa, the newly elected chairperson of the PDM Sacco groups in Bardyang parish, confirmed the development in an interview with our reporter. He said that on Sunday, May 31, 2025, a total of UGX 43 million was disbursed to PDM beneficiaries who had previously missed out.

According to Oringa, while some beneficiaries received the money via mobile money, others were paid directly through the bank.

Oringa cautioned recipients against misusing the funds for non-productive purposes such as marriage ceremonies, buying smartphones, or alcohol consumption. He emphasised that the money should be used strictly for income-generating activities, in line with the government’s goal of poverty eradication.

Meanwhile, Ogwal Rugby, the Adok subcounty Chairperson, expressed surprise at the disbursement, stating that he had not been officially informed. However, he acknowledged witnessing some beneficiaries receiving money at the bank.

Efforts to reach Mr. Patrick Alyenyo, the Commercial Officer for Dokolo district, for confirmation were unsuccessful, as his known telephone contact was unavailable by press time.
