Health experts are raising concerns over the increasing cases of prostate cancer in the Lango subregion, following recent findings during a free medical camp organised by Mr. Benard Otim.
Dr. Richard Ekwan, a public health specialist at the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI), sounded the alarm during an exclusive interview with our news reporter. He revealed that more than six suspected cases of prostate cancer were identified during a two-day health outreach held from July 29–30, 2025, at Atar Health Centre II in Apac district.
In addition to prostate cancer, Dr. Ekwan noted a rise in cases of cervical and breast cancer, urging the public to prioritise routine medical checkups for early detection and treatment.
Dr. Ekwan further advised the public to be mindful of their diet and to adopt regular physical exercise as preventive measures against cancer.
