Abia Seed SS Alebtong wins Stanbic school championship, bags shs 13m

Abia Seed Secondary School in Alebtong district has been crowned the 2025 champion of the 10th season of National Stanbic School Champions competition winning a cash price of 13 million shillings.

The event which was organised by Stanbic Uganda at Mestil hotel in Kampala kicked off from August 25th and concluded August 29th, 2025, was presided over by the state minister for youth and children, Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi.

In an exclusive interview with our reporter, Bernard Odongo, a teacher who represented the school with their top security alarm emerged the winner in the business fellowship category winning 13,000,000 shillings to support the business.

Odongo explained that their top security alarm innovation once installed at the door, it automatically notifies through a phone call once a stranger touches the gadget with an alarm system sound aimed at providing home security.

He also stated that Mentor SS and Comboni College were under students packed category where students developed an innovation to address challenges affecting the community.

In this category, Mentor SS emerged the second position of the total 8 schools in the country and were rewarded a cash prize of 10 million to develop the project meanwhile Comboni College did not appear in the top 4 schools.

He further urged learners to embrace innovations and are encouraged to design a project which meets the global trend.

Mr. Geoffrey Odur, the director of Mentor SS in Lira city acknowledged that his students were awarded 10 million shs and brand new laptops to improve on their projects.
