Lightning struck dead Atapara S.S student

A devastating incident has shaken the community as a student of Atapara SS in Oyam district was struck dead by lightning last evening.

Speaking to Radio Wa Fm news desk, Vincent Ogwang,the Director of Studies of the school confirmed that the incident happened on March 25th at about 7:20 pm when light rains occurred and lightning struck dead a Senior six student identified as Isaac Akona,a resident of Duka Aboke in Kole district.

Ogwang narrated that, the bizarre occurred around the dormitory when the students were finalizing with their supper awaiting prep time.

He said, Akona was immediately rushed to Aber hospital in Oyam for medical examinations but was pronounced dead on arrival.

He expressed that the incident has left the school in shock and grief!
He said the deceased body is at Aber hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Lightning-related incidents are common during Uganda’s wet season.

However to mitigate the vice,school authorities and institutions are advised to install lightning arrestors.
