The former Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Otuke District, Abudul George, has been elected as the Chairperson of the Global Digital and Leadership Summit currently taking place in Moscow, Russia. Abudul will serve a three-year term, representing developing countries in advancing digital transformation.
He secured the position after a tightly contested race, defeating strong candidates from South Korea and Bangladesh.
Speaking to our reporter from Moscow, Abudul said the summit is focused on helping local farmers adopt modern agricultural technologies and improving market accessibility through the use of the internet. He emphasized that one of the core objectives is to enhance health service delivery by encouraging research-driven solutions to address existing challenges.
Abudul also explained why Russia was chosen to host this year’s summit, noting that the country is globally recognized for its advancements in technology, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
He stated that in his new role, he will be responsible for spearheading the Accelerating Digitalization Global Challenge Program, an initiative designed to help countries fast-track the adoption of innovative digital solutions to address pressing development needs.
The Global Digital and Leadership Summit is an annual event organized by the World Bank Group, with the goal of bridging the global digital divide and promoting digital development.
The summit brings together young leaders and stakeholders from across the globe, including government officials, private sector representatives, and thought leaders, to share ideas and collaborate on building a more inclusive digital future.
