Persons with disabilities launch a tree planting campaign in Karambi

Karambi group of persons with disabilities in partnership with Agri-Evolve has launched a tree planting campaign in their subcounty aimed at combating global warming.

They are estimating to plant at least ten thousand trees in Karambi sub-county by close of this year.

Mr. Godfrey Bwambale, their Programs Director told our reporter shortly after the launch held at Kamasasa one trading center in Karambi sub-county that mitigating climate change, restoring the ecosystems and timely preparation for disasters commonly during the wet seasons, are key in the project. Mr. Paddy Muhindo, the area local council three chairperson called for what he described as multipurpose fruit trees that do not only provide fruits but break the forces of disasters and provide food to domestic animals. Mr. Paddy speaking….

During the yesterday launch, Mr. Paul Mulwahali, an agronomist with Agri-Evolve, urged farmers to seek technical guidance from agricultural extension officers before planting trees. Mr. Mulwahali speaking….

Ms. Grace Kayugha and Mr. Joseph Ndaghala, residents of Kisolholho village, hailed the organizations for providing free tree seedlings.
