Persons with disabilities in Kasese Municipality cries over their swindled funds by their representative councilor at the district council.
Mr. Erias Byamungu, the Kasese Chief Administrative Officer is to have an in house meeting with Hon. Banjo Masereka the Kasese district male councilor representing persons with disabilities.
The CAO’s statement follows a letter written on 11th March requesting him to intervene and help them accordingly, where a section of Persons with Disabilities complain about Hon. Banjo Masereka the male representative for PDWS in Kasese council over allegations of misuse of their funds.
According to them, Hon. Banjo has continuously forged project proposals to benefit from the special grant program of persons with disabilities, which funds after being approved and received by him, he has diverted to an FM radio station that has never been on air for more than fifteen years.
They also added that he has directly made other proposals in support to the FM radio station that is not in their setting.
Addressing leaders of PWDs in Central division hall in a one-day meeting organized by National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda-NUDIPU, Mr. Erias Byamungu the Kasese Chief Administrative Officer revealed that he is not happy with the PWDs move to take Hon. Banjo Masereka to police over allegations surrounding him saying his office is looking forward to have an in house meeting to ensure that the matter is addressed.
However, the Kasese Deputy RDC in charge of Bukonzo County, Lt. Maate Magwara seems not to go with the CAO’s plan indicating that the law is to work on Hon. Banjo since he has failed to go with the agreement made.
Details of the story will come in our subsequent news bulletin.
