Members of Kasithu Parish Development Model Sacco (PDM) in Munkunyu subcounty Kasese district, have given a seven-day ultimatum to their secretary, Ms. Alice Bwambale to refund 1.5 million shillings meant for piggery enterprise, which she allegedly swindled.
It is reported that Ms. Bwambale solicited a bribe of One hundred thousand shillings from each member beneficiary as office cost and registration fees, which she has allegedly failed to account for.
During a harmonisation meeting with the sub-county leadership held this afternoon at Munkunyu Sub-county Council Hall, Ms. Betty Biira, among others, accused Ms. Bwambale of reportedly obtaining money by false pretence.
Mr. Michael Byaruhanga, the Community Development officer (CDO) for Munkunyu subcounty informed the meeting that he would register a case with police against Ms. Bwambale.
Ms. Alice Bwambale, the accused, who pleaded guilty, asked the subcounty CDO and Parish Chief to forgive her promising to refund the money.
The LC III Chairperson for Munkunyu subcounty, Mr. Sezi Baluku, strongly condemned the act and asked SACCO members to use proper procedures while applying for PDM funds.
