Man dies after hippopotamus chops off his manhood

A 35-year-Old man who allegedly lost his private parts after an attack by a hippopotamus at Hamukungu fishing landing site in Lake Katwe subcounty Kasese district, has died.

The Community Liaisons Officer for Rwenzori east region, SP. Luke Mbusa confirmed and identified the deceased as late Ahebwa Solomon, who was pronounced dead on arrival at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese town.

Ms. Eve Biira, a health worker Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital told Kasese Guide Radio that the victim could have died of injuries sustained during the hippopotamus attack.

Meanwhile, a stray elephant has reportedly destroyed crop gardens and six semi-permanent houses at Kikorongo trading center in Lake Katwe subcounty.

Mr. Doviko Kule, the LC 1chairperson for Kikorongo trading center, alleged that the elephant could have escaped from Queen Elizabeth National Park using the lower part of the tarmac road along Kasese-Mbarara highway.

Mr. Doviko, who commended government for erecting an electric wire along the National Park, called for the intervention of the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).
