Two pupils allegedly poisoned by their step father

Stepfather accused of poisoning and killing two of his stepchildren in Kasese municipality.

Two Pupils have died this morning from Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese town, after eating suspected poisoned food.

It’s alleged that the pupils aged between 10 and 8 years could have died after eating rolex chapatti laced with poison by their step father, a popular herbalist in Kasese town, Dr. Hajji Abdu Kasita.

The chairperson local council one for Saluti B in Kasese municipality, Ms. Janet Mbambu, identified the deceased as the late Catherine Kabugho, aged 10, and Caroline Mbambu, aged 8, both in primary one at Royal Care Preparatory School in Rukoki ward, Kasese municipality.

Mr. Francis Mumbere, a neighbour of the biological father of the deceased children, Mr. Julius Sumetha, testified that the children had complained of stomachache on Wednesday after eating rolex chapatti and drinking cheers, reportedly bought by Dr. Abdu Kasitha.

Ms. Esther Birungi, the aunt of the deceased children, said that Abdu Kasitha was arrested by neighbours at his home in Kogere cell, Nyamwamba division, after he had allegedly escaped from Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital at 2:00 am, shortly after the death of the first girl.

As of press time, the bodies were still lying at Kasese Municipal Health Centre III, awaiting post-mortem. May the souls of the deceased rest in eternal peace.
