Rwenzururu Kingdom receives Kiteezi landfill victim

Gilbert Mumbere, the survivor of the Kiteezi landfill disaster in Kampala, has been received by the Rwenzururu Kingdom with a call for the Kingdom’s subjects to assist him.

Addressing the press at the Prime Minister’s office in Kasese municipality yesterday, Hon. Geoffrey Kanyonyi, the Kingdom spokesperson, expressed gratitude to God for the boy’s life and thanked the government for its trust in the institution of the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu, before calling for support for the young man.

Hon. Best Juliet Kambale Bakoko, the Kingdom Minister for Gender and Rehabilitation, thanked the Prime Minister of Uganda for her trust in the Kingdom and expressed appreciation to the media for raising awareness of Gilbert’s plight, which caught the attention of His Majesty Charles Wisely Mumbere Iremangoma and prompted his intervention.

Gilbert later expressed his gratitude to the Rwenzururu King for his intervention in a regrettable situation that had left him feeling helpless.
