Kasese Magistrates Court sends Dr. Hajji Abdu Kasita back to remand

Kasese Guide Radio has learnt that the Kasese Magistrates Court has sent Dr. Hajji Abdu Kasita back to remand at Mubuku Government Prison until 15th october 2024 for mention. He faces two counts of murder involving Juveniles.

The court presided over by Grade One Magistrate, His Worship Alinda Isha heard that on 10th August 2024, while in Kogere cell in Kasese municipality, Dr.Hajji Abdu Kasita allegedly poisoned his stepchildren, the late Caroline Mbambu 8 and late Catherine Kabugho 10, using a rolex chapatti.

His Worship Alinda told court that the absence of the state attorney hindered the court proceedings against Dr. Abdu Kasita.

Speaking to our reporter shortly after the court session, Mr. Ezra Muhindo Sumethe, the biological father to the deceased minors, vowed to attend all court proceedings and called for fair Justice.

Meanwhile, the same court also remanded the Chairperson for Banyabindi Cultural and Development Trust, Mr. Augustine Byabasaijja until 30th September 2024 on six counts of forgery and extortion of money from the organisation’s bank account.

It is alleged that on 06th August 2024, while at Mubuku Cell in Mubuku town council, the accused forged receipts, office stamps, and others documents to withdraw the organization’s funds.  

His defense lawyer, Counsel Mishele Geoffrey from Spero and Co. Advocates, stated that court did not give provide his client with an opportunity to take a plea, as the Attorney General was absent.

In a separate interview, the Chairperson for Banyabindi Cultural and Development Trust, Mr. Bitamazire Mijumbi Wilson, stated that the embattled chairperson had failed to account for over 900 million shillings.
