The exercise to reopen boundaries of the disputed Kyabatukura land in Ibuga village, Kitswamba sub county in Kasese district, has been successful, Kasese Guide Radio can reliably report.

Speaking to our reporter shortly after the exercise, the defense lawyer representing Uganda Wild Life Authority, Mr. Ali Luzinda, said the exercise was in fulfillment of the High Court orders issued by the Kasese Resident Judge, Hon Justice Lawrence Tweyanze, following a petition by Mr. Luka Kiiza and others, claiming ownership of Kyabatukura land.

Some of the Surveyors in the Kyabatukura land.

Counsel Ali said after the successful exercise, the government surveyors were to release a final report that court was to scrutinize before her ruling.

Counsel Ali describing that the exercise that happened was pass on to a court order that was issued by His Lordship Tweyanze the resident Judge-Kasese High court.

The general secretary for Kyabatukura land claimants, Ms Moreen Ruth Biira Banyomire, prays that the exercise and the subsequent report guides court ruling in their favor to repossess the three thousand eight hundred forty acres of land.

Ms Moreen Ruth Biira Banyomire saying that she believes the Surveyors are to deliberately hand over to court the right report from the field. Adding that they have been in fight for the Kyabatukura land with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and the Basongora Clan.

The Counsel for Kyabatukura land claimants, Mr. Geoffrey Mishele from Spero advocates, appreciated Court for honoring his application for re-opening the boundaries, an exercise he said will give more light on who land owners are.

Counsel Mishele on the Report that was handed to the court in 2013 showing between Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and Antony General for Prison there was no land until he came in to defend the report in 2024 and fortunately they won the case on court’s order.
