SP Nelson Tumushiime, the Rwenzori East region police spokesperson, has praised the police for their timely investigations, which have led to the sentencing of several convicts in Kasese district.
Addressing the press at his office today, SP Tumushiime noted that while some individuals had criticised the police for alleged mismanagement of criminal cases, the officers have diligently ensured that cases are forwarded to the High Court, where convicts have been prosecuted and sentenced.
He commended the High Court for convicting and sentencing Mr. Muhindo Jackson Kasulenge to twenty years in prison following his guilty plea to murder charges involving two people in Kamughobe village, Kisinga subcounty, Kasese district.
Recently, the High Court heard that on 30th July 2023, in Kamughobe village, Kisinga subcounty, Mr. Muhindo Jackson Kasulenge murdered his biological brother, the late Kabutusi Joles Kasulenge, by striking him on the head with a blunt object. He then secretly buried his brother in a banana plantation after also murdering his wife, the late Mary Shamimu, in cold blood.
