A minor road traffic accident occurred on the evening of April 11, 2026, along the busy Gulu–Juba Road near Gulu Primary School in Gulu City.

According to a police report from Aswa West Region, Gulu West Police Division, the incident happened at approximately 5:30 PM when a motorcycle rider lost control and rammed into a stationary vehicle.

The crash involved a white Toyota Probox (registration number UBM 698E), driven by Apio Catherine, a female adult resident of Bwobo Awaye in Layibi Division, and a black Yamaha motorcycle (registration number UP 03762), ridden by Onekalit Joel, a 23-year-old male of Acholi origin from Oloyojur, Paibona, in Gulu District.

Preliminary findings indicate that the Probox had been properly parked by the roadside facing the Juba Road when the motorcyclist, reportedly speeding from the direction of Custom Corner, lost control and collided with the vehicle from behind.

Police officers, led by Sgt. Akena Denis Frank and assisted by PC Ebong Geoffry, promptly visited the scene and documented the incident. Both the vehicle and the motorcycle have since been towed to Gulu West Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV). A rough sketch plan of the scene was also prepared.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

The police spokesperson for the Aswa West Region, David Ongom Mudong, confirmed the incident and urged road users to exercise caution, particularly regarding speed control, to prevent similar accidents.
