C.R.O leadership calls for protection of their property from fraudsters

The leadership and Alumni of the Child restoration Outreach (C.R.O) in Mbale City have appealed to the relevant authorities and concerned citizens to join voices and efforts in protecting their premises from fraudulent buyers.

This call was made during celebrations to mark the International day for Street Children, which was commemorated yesterday in Mbale city at the C.R.O building.

Several speakers including Bishop Andrew Mutengu, the leader of Word of Faith Cathedral in Mbale City, noted rumors have been making rounds concerning individuals who want to grab the properties of organization including land.

He also asked the community to be vigilant and make efforts to protect the property. Bishop Mutengu, appealed to the government and other stakeholders to join in efforts to save the organization’s property from sale and actively participate in efforts to help the children on the streets be better people in society.

The Country Director of C.R.O, Mr Paul Nabitiri, thanked several partners and organizations supporting the their organization and providing them with equipment like with tailoring machines which are being used to equip the street children with skills for survival.

Mr Nabitiri, said the organization has so far rescued over 10,120 street child off the streets across the cities of Jinja, Mbale, Lira and Masaka in the recent years. In last year’s records, Mbale had the highest number of children that were rescued off streets (537).

He, emphasized that as an organisation, they are still in existance and that their premises have never been sold. He appealed to the government to provide justice and a fair hearing during the court rulings over their properties.

Immaculate Nabifo, the Mbale District Probation and Social Welfare Officer, said CRO as an organisation should utilize the structures with in leadership in the City very well. She, encouraged the street kids not to use drugs regardless of the climate changes and also involve themselves in productive works.

Nabifo, further called up for government support and intervention to have possible solutions and reduce on the number of street kids and relocate them to safe places. She, pledged her commitment to follow up on the matters surrounding the fraudulent sale of the organization’s premises.
