In a gesture of corporate social responsibility, the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) has donated vital medical supplies and equipment worth Shs 213 million to Mbale regional referral hospital.
The donation, made during the ongoing trade fair, aims to support the hospital’s efforts in serving the community.
Dr. Ezra Muhumuza Rubanda, UMA’s Executive Director, emphasised the importance of giving back to the community, stating, “we recognise the need for manufacturers and stakeholders to continuously support and appreciate our clients, the community.”
The donated items, including oxygen, water tanks, mattresses, detergents, gloves, and other essential hospital supplies, will significantly ease the burden on healthcare workers and enhance service delivery.
Dr. Steven Obbo, hospital director of Mbale regional referral hospital, expressed gratitude to UMA for the generous support, acknowledging that the hospital serves a vast population of over 5 million people from 16 districts in the eastern region, often struggling with insufficient government funding.
This donation demonstrates UMA’s commitment to supporting the community and encourages other organisations to follow suit.
UMA’s corporate social responsibility initiative sets a precedent for manufacturers and stakeholders to give back to the community, fostering a culture of social responsibility and support.
