At least 68 Senior Four candidates of Namasale Seed Secondary School in Amolatar District will be required to re-sit their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams after the Uganda National Examinations Board cancelled their 2025 results over examination malpractice.

The Acting District Education Officer for Amolatar, Peter Obote, confirmed the development in an interview with Radio Wa. He explained that on 24th March 2026, UNEB summoned district authorities, school headteachers, and the affected candidates to its offices in Kampala for questioning regarding the alleged malpractice.

Following the meeting, UNEB resolved that the affected learners must re-sit the examinations. The school management of Namasale Seed Secondary School has since been tasked with developing clear modalities to facilitate the re-sitting of the exams.

Obote strongly condemned the malpractice and urged schools across the district to prioritize early preparation of candidates to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Acting District Education Officer of Amolatar, Peter Obote speaks on incident, urging teachers to prepare candidates in advance for exams to avoid such act repeated in Amolatar.

Earlier in February, the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, officially released the 2025 UCE results. However, at Namasale Seed Secondary School, only 16 results were released, while 68 out of the 80 registered candidates had their results withheld due to the suspected malpractice.

The 2025 results marked the second group of students assessed under Uganda’s new competency-based lower secondary curriculum.
