At least 68 Senior Four candidates from Namasale Seed Secondary School in Amolatar District will be required to re-sit their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations after the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) annulled their 2025 results due to examination malpractice.
The Acting District Education Officer for Amolatar, Peter Obote, confirmed the development in an interview with Radio Wa. He explained that on 24 March 2026, UNEB summoned district authorities, school headteachers, and the affected candidates to its offices in Kampala for questioning regarding the alleged malpractice.
Following the meeting, UNEB resolved that the affected learners must re-sit the examinations. The management of Namasale Seed Secondary School has since been tasked with developing clear arrangements to facilitate the re-sitting of the exams.
Obote strongly condemned the malpractice and urged schools across the district to prioritise early preparation of candidates to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Earlier in February, the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, officially released the 2025 UCE results. However, at Namasale Seed Secondary School, only 16 results were issued, while 68 of the 80 registered candidates had their results withheld due to suspected malpractice.
The 2025 results represented the second cohort of students assessed under Uganda’s new competency-based lower secondary curriculum.
