Students have been encouraged to remain committed to their studies if they are to achieve their dreams and secure a better future.
The call was made on Thursday 16th. April.2026 , by Hon. Judith Alyek, the outgoing Chairperson of the Lango Parliamentary Group and Woman Member of Parliament for Kole District, during the handover of laboratory equipment to Okwerodot Seed Secondary School in Okwerodot Sub-county. The equipment was donated by Lab Aid Foundation-UK in partnership with Future Net Uganda.
Hon. Alyek emphasized that while the donation is intended to improve performance in science subjects, its impact will only be realized if learners remain disciplined, focused, and hardworking. She expressed concern that some students lose sight of their academic goals and instead engage in unproductive activities that hinder their success.
She also noted that although her term in the 11th Parliament ends in May, she remains committed to supporting education initiatives in Kole District.
Christine Mongo, Managing Director of Future Net Uganda, said the organization aims to strengthen science education in response to rapid global technological advancement. She revealed that similar laboratory support has been extended to at least four secondary schools in the district, including Okwerodot Seed Secondary School, and commended Hon. Alyek for her continued support in ensuring resources reach schools.
Mongo urged both students and teachers to take proper care of the donated equipment to sustain its intended purpose of enhancing science and technology learning.
Meanwhile, Kole District Education Officer Tom Okare expressed gratitude to Future Net Uganda and Lab Aid Foundation-UK for their support, noting that the school still requires additional assistance due to rising enrollment. He highlighted that student numbers have grown significantly—from 120 two years ago to 420 currently.
The donation marks a step forward in strengthening science education in Kole, but stakeholders stress that student discipline and continued support are essential to translate resources into academic success.
