The Apostolic Social Centre of Lira Diocese has officially unveiled a modern restaurant, marking another milestone in the ongoing development and rehabilitation of Lira Cathedral Parish.
The facility, known as Apostolic Restaurant, was officially opened and blessed by the Curate of Lira Cathedral Parish, Rev. Fr. Caesar Okello, during a ceremony attended by parishioners, business leaders, and members of the local community.
Speaking at the event, prominent businessman and lay leader Mr. Christopher Dau Aweki encouraged entrepreneurs to prioritize excellent customer care as a key strategy for business growth and sustainability.
He observed that many businesses fail because operators neglect customer service, often driving away clients through poor treatment and lack of professionalism. Aweki noted that the use of harsh language and unfair treatment of customers has contributed to the collapse of several enterprises.
He urged business owners across the Lango sub-region to treat customers with respect and dignity, emphasizing that customers should always be regarded as the foundation of any successful business.
During the same event, Dr. Easter Mary Aceng, speaking on behalf of women, challenged young people in Lango to adopt a positive mindset and embrace entrepreneurship.
She advised the youth to focus on becoming job creators rather than job seekers, noting that opportunities in government employment are increasingly limited.
Meanwhile, the Director of Apostolic Restaurant, Mr. Rafael Ocen, expressed gratitude to Lira Diocese and its leadership under Bishop Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok for providing him with the opportunity to operate the business within the church premises.
Ocen pledged continued support to the diocese and assured customers of high-quality services, professionalism, and excellent customer care as the restaurant begins its operations.
The establishment of the restaurant is expected to enhance services at the Apostolic Social Centre while contributing to the economic activities and development initiatives of the diocese.
Church leaders and stakeholders have welcomed the new facility as a valuable addition to the Diocese’s development efforts. Beyond providing hospitality services, the Apostolic Restaurant is expected to create employment opportunities, promote entrepreneurship, and strengthen the financial sustainability of parish development programs.
