The LCV Chairperson of Apac District, Ambrose Agech, has assured the public that his administration will reject all forms of corruption, intimidation, discrimination, and abuse of office in accordance with Article 176 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.
Agech made the remarks on Thursday 21st, 2026 during the official swearing-in ceremony of district councilors held at Apac Boma Grounds. The ceremony was presided over by Joe Faye Adoko, a magistrate from the Lira High Court.
The district chairperson acknowledged that for many years the district has faced leadership and governance challenges that weakened public confidence, particularly corruption in public recruitment systems where jobs are allegedly sold to desperate job seekers.
He warned residents against paying money for government jobs, emphasizing that public resources would be protected and civil servants allowed working professionally and freely without intimidation, as guided by the law and government procedures.
During the handover of office equipment, Olaboro Emmy Ojuku, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), pledged to cooperate closely with political leaders and urged them to ensure the implementation of all planned government projects.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Andrew Onyuk, called for teamwork among leaders to promote effective socio-economic transformation in the district.
Meanwhile, Peter Obong Acuda, the Member of Parliament for Maruzi County and former district speaker, pledged to work with the new administration regardless of political differences and encouraged the public to trust and support the new leaders.
The Woman Member of Parliament for Apac District, Awor Betty Engola, also emphasized the importance of service delivery, teamwork, and unity among councillors to improve effectiveness in leadership.
In the district leadership elections, Ogwang Oscar, the councilors representing Apac Sub-county, was elected district speaker after securing 16 votes against Opira Sam of Chegere Sub-county, who received 13 votes.

Apio Jane was declared unopposed as deputy speaker.
Other appointments included Charles Hilton Ogang as Vice Chairperson and Leader of Government Business, Robson Atigo representing Chegere, Jaspher Odongo from Aroca Division, and Joyce Akullo Adoko representing Apoi Sub-county.
The swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of a new leadership term in Apac District, with leaders pledging to strengthen accountability, teamwork, and service delivery to restore public confidence and drive development in the district.
