Erute North MP donates ambulance to improve healthcare services in Lira District,

Residents of Erute North Constituency in Lira District have welcomed the donation of a new ambulance by their Member of Parliament, Hon.Patrick Ongom Aregedeng, describing it as a major boost to healthcare service delivery in the area.

The ambulance was officially launched at Aromo Health Centre III on Tuesday 21st July, 2026 , where it immediately began serving the community by transporting two expectant mothers who required urgent referral to Ogur Health Center IV.

Speaking to Radio Wa News, Jasper Ojok, the LC III Chairperson of Aromo Sub-county, expressed appreciation for the donation, saying it offers renewed hope to residents who have long faced challenges accessing emergency medical transport.

Ojok noted that the ambulance is expected to significantly improve the referral system by ensuring that critically ill patients and emergency cases are transported to higher-level health facilities in time, ultimately saving lives.

Also speaking during the launch, RCM Okello Orik, the LC V Chairperson of Lira District, described the donation as timely. He explained that the district had previously relied on only one ambulance stationed at Amach , which was insufficient to meet the emergency medical needs of the entire district.

According to Orik, the addition of a second ambulance will greatly strengthen emergency response and improve access to healthcare services, particularly for residents of Erute North.

Meanwhile, Bonny Omara, speaking on his behalf, the Political Assistant to MP Patrick Ongom Aregedeng, said the ambulance fulfills one of the legislator’s key campaign pledges to improve healthcare services in the constituency.

Omara, who also previously served as the Lira District LC V Vice Chairperson, said Erute North has for years experienced a shortage of ambulances, making emergency referrals difficult. He added that the ambulance was purchased using the MP’s personal resources as part of his commitment to improving service delivery in the health sector.

Local leaders and residents have welcomed the donation, expressing optimism that the new ambulance will enhance emergency referrals, reduce delays in accessing specialized medical care, and contribute to improved health outcomes for the people of Erute North.
