The LC3 Chairperson of Okwerodot Sub-County in Kole District, Mr. Pere Denis, has called on newly appointed Health Centre Committee (HCC) members to work closely with facility in-charges to strengthen accountability and improve healthcare service delivery.
Pere made the call during an interview with our reporter following the induction and swearing-in ceremony of Health Centre Committees for Okwerodot and Ayara Health Centre IIIs, held yesterday at the sub-county headquarters.
He emphasized that the induction and swearing-in of the committees is essential in empowering community representatives to oversee health facilities, promote institutional accountability and contribute to improved healthcare services.
According to Pere, Health Centre Committees play a vital role in bridging the gap between health facilities and the communities they serve. He noted that the committees are instrumental in public health sensitization, resource management and advocating for patients’ needs.
He further tasked the newly inducted members with closely monitoring the operations of health facilities to address staff absenteeism and prevent drug stock-outs, which can undermine access to essential healthcare services.
Pere also urged committee members to serve as committed representatives of their communities, stressing that their responsibility to promote public welfare should go beyond financial remuneration.
He called on the committees to remain dedicated to their oversight responsibilities and work hand in hand with health facility managers to ensure communities receive reliable, accountable and quality healthcare services.
