APAC DISTRICT–The Apac District Speaker, Mr Oscar Ogwang, has urged head teachers and school management committees to embrace transparency and accountability in the management of development funds to encourage parents and guardians to continue supporting school development initiatives.
Ogwang made the appeal over the weekend during an emergency Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Apac Seed Secondary School in Apac District.
He observed that failure by school management to account for funds contributed by parents, guardians and well-wishers discourages them from making further contributions towards school development.
According to Ogwang, poor accountability in the management of funds collected from parents and other well-wishers is among the major factors contributing to the slow development of schools across the Lango sub-region.
He urged school administrators to ensure that all contributions are properly documented and accounted for, while regularly updating parents on how the funds are utilised.

Additionally, Ogwang warned school management against imposing extra charges on learners without seeking consent from parents, emphasising the need for consultation before introducing additional financial requirements.
