The Kyoga County Member of Parliament and member of Parliamentary Committee on Education and Sports Hon. Colline Angwech highlighted several key benefits and insights gained from their benchmarking visit to Kenya asserting that it will help to improve education standard in Uganda.
Speaking to our reporter, Angwech acknowledged that the delegation evaluated Kenya’s execution of the competency based curriculum including automatic learner progression guidelines.
Led by deputy chairperson Emmanuel Ongiertho, MP Angwech revealed that the delegation met with Kenyan counterparts chaired by Julius Melly as bilateral discussion focused on several core policy areas specifically in addressing salary disparities between science and humanities teachers.
She said Kenyan MPs presented strategies on embedding technology across classroom subjects, using interactive digital screens, and building school digital infrastructure.
Legislator added that the discussions also covered the administration of public development funds like the national government constituencies development fund for school infrastructure, alongside policies governing inclusive education and support for learners with special needs.
She also confirmed that Parliamentary committees on education will continue delegating MPs for regional and international benchmarking visits to strengthen legislative oversight and improve education policy formulation.
On August 19, 2026, a delegation from the Ugandan parliamentary committee on education and sports visited parliament buildings in Nairobi for a benchmarking engagement with Kenya’s national assembly departmental committee on education.
