Alebtong tops Lango in 2025 service delivery performance report

Alebtong District has emerged as the best-performing local government in the Lango sub-region in the 2025 Service Delivery Performance Report, scoring 92% and ranking 28th nationally.

According to the report released by the Office of the Prime Minister on April 15th, overall performance across all local governments assessed improved from 60.15% in 2024 to 67.23% in 2025 across six key sectors.

Water and Sanitation registered the highest performance at 73.08%, up from 64.60% in 2024. This was followed by Production Services, which improved from 61.95% to 71.54%, and Health Services, which rose from 59.78% to 66.47% over the same period.

Speaking to our reporter, Alebtong District LC5 Chairperson, DK Odongo, attributed the district’s strong performance to proactive leadership, effective teamwork among technical staff, and consistent monitoring and supervision of government programs. He also noted that regular weekly performance review meetings across departments significantly contributed to the district’s improvement, compared to 2021 when Alebtong was ranked 148th nationally.

Within the Lango sub-region rankings, Alebtong was closely followed by Lira City at 91% (ranked 37th nationally), Kole District at 88% (57th), Oyam District at 86% (72nd), Apac District at 85% (79th), and Kwania District at 82% (94th). Lira District scored 76% (131st), while Dokolo recorded 74% (140th). Amolatar District achieved 69% (153rd), and Otuke District ranked lowest in the sub-region with 65% (162nd nationally).

Other sectors also registered notable improvements. Education Services rose to 65.98% from 60.34%, Micro-scale Irrigation improved from 60.43% to 66.08%, while Infrastructure Assets increased from 53.85% to 60.24% between 2024 and 2025.

The steady improvement in performance across districts highlights progress in service delivery, with Alebtong setting a strong example for others to emulate through effective leadership, coordination, and accountability.
