The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Agago, Nabinson Kidega Nok, has warned people to be extra careful because conmen are becoming more active in the district.

He urged residents to work closely with security officers to stop this problem. Many people have already fallen victim to these tricksters.

Kidega Nok said that one big challenge is that victims do not report cases to the police, making it hard for authorities to help them.

He assured the public that the RDC’s office, the District Internal Security Officer (DISO), and the police are always ready to assist anyone who suspects they are being targeted by conmen trying to steal money or other valuables.

Kidega Nok also advised the community not to share personal or business information with strangers before confirming their identity with security officers or local leaders.

Recently, a man pretending to be the manager of Radio Wang Ooh has been tricking schools and businesses, causing financial losses. Other conmen have been claiming to work for Uganda Revenue Authority (URA). Some residents have also reported a fraudster pretending to be the new Chief Administrative Officer CAO) of Agago district, promising business opportunities.

Authorities are urging everyone to stay alert and report any suspicious individuals to the police or local leaders to prevent further losses.
