The Pader District Education Department has submitted at least 26 community schools, opened in the district to reduce congestion and long distances between homes and schools.

Fearless Obwoya Oyat, the Pader District LC V Chairperson, stated that the district recently approved 26 community schools and submitted them for coding/grant-aiding by the Ministry of Education and Sports for the 2024/2025 financial year.

Obwoya noted that if the Ministry codes the 26 community schools opened in Pader, it will help alleviate overcrowding and reduce the long distances pupils must travel from home to school.

Ojok Phillip Obalim, the Pader District Secretary for Education, mentioned that late last month, the district received a letter from the Ministry of Education confirming that 10 schools will receive government aid in the 2024/2025 financial year once funds are available.

He added that his office is following up to determine which of the 26 submitted schools will be granted aid.

Pader district has 107 government-aided primary schools, 10 secondary schools, and two government skill development institutions. Currently, 104,293 students benefit from UPE, including 58,545 boys and 52,685 girls.
