Gulu-Nimule highway in sorry state

Users are complaining about the sorrowful state of the Gulu-Nimule Highway.

The road measuring 106 kilometers stretching from Gulu City up to Elegu Town Council connects Uganda to South Sudan was constructed at the tune of 89 billion shillings and commissioned in 2015.

The road constructed by the Chinese Construction Company, China Hernan International Corporation (CHICO) has currently developed hundreds of potholes and become hotspots for accidents.

The most affected areas stretch through Parabongo, Pabbo, and Attiak Town Council. It is one of Uganda`s busiest roads in terms of transportation of goods and services.

Aswa West Police Spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong says the potholes are not only dangerous spots for drivers but also motorcyclists and pedestrians.

The deteriorating state of the road has raised concerns among users with a number of them demanding its repair to save the lives of road users and their automobiles.
