Gulu university students being equipped with skills and knowledge to improve saving culture

On Wednesday, the National Social Security Fund sensitized Gulu University students with career development tips and financial management skills.

This is part of the NSSF annual NSSF Career Expo initiative.

It is an initiative through which university students are equipped with skills and knowledge to increase their employment and entrepreneurship opportunities and financial management skills to improve their saving culture.

Osbert Asimwe, the NSSF Northern Regional Compliance Team Leader said the expo is good for the students’ career development and life after campus.

This year’s expo started on the 3rd of April at Makerere University Business School and will run until the 26th of April 2024 in various universities across the country under the theme, “Discovering your Purpose”.

Over 5,000 students from nine universities across the country are expected to participate in the expo.

This expo is held in partnership with the Nation Media Group and Absa Bank. Other partners include Fenon Entertainment and Crown beverages under their brand “7-UP”.

To date, over 44,700 young people who enrolled with NSSF as university students have saved over Ugx 35.5 billion over the last 10 years.
