As Uganda today joins the rest of the world to commemorate the International Anti-corruption Day with main celebrations held at Ibanda Integrated Primary School in Ibanda District under the theme “Citizens must own the war to eliminate corruption. It’s their war” Fellow Ugandans are advised to return to the fear of God so as to curb the deadly vice of rampant corruption in the country.

This message to all Ugandans has been revealed by Apostle Twebaze Wilberforce, lead pastor for Way of Truth and Redemption Church of God Katadde -Buwambo while speaking to our  reporter about this day and possible remedies to curb the problem.

AP. Twebaze Wilberforce has called on fellow Ugandans particularly the clergy to take lead in embracing the fear of God, not individuals as an immediate measure to end the vice of corruption. He further advised government to support more the clergy in the spread of the Gospel of change to all their flocks to help touch the hearts of people via the presence of God fearing in them. He further quoted biblical scriptures in Exodus 23:6 and Deuteronomy 10:17 to all clergymen and Ugandans at large respectively to fight corruption from the grass root.

Relatedly, Hon. Ntale Kalema Quraish the deputy speaker Nansana Municipality Council, Wakiso district has highlighted the need for sensitization of the public about the vice from the grass root to understand its effects so has to join efforts together to fight it off.

According to the recent IGG Hon. Beti Kamya’s report, the country loses a sum of Uganda shillings 10 trillion yearly, besides a number of efforts put forward by government to fight the vice that includes among others the IGG’s office, life style audit, state house anti-corruption unit just to mention to curb the vice, however more still needs to be done.
