The Imbalu organising committee has confirmed that this year’s Imbalu festival launch will take place on August 3rd, dismissing claims of a date change.
Committee member Sam Wambuya clarified this on The Morning Shake Up, stating that the date has always remained the same.
The Imbalu festival is a significant cultural event for the Bamasaba people, marking the initiation of boys into manhood through male circumcision. This traditional practice takes place every even year, following an official launch ceremony known as the “Imbalu Festival Launch”.
This year’s theme, “Imbalu Mulilo”, highlights the importance of the festival in Bamasaba culture. The event has attracted dignitaries and cultural leaders from across Africa, with many confirming their attendance at the inauguration ceremony.
The Imbalu festival is a celebration of Bamasaba heritage, showcasing their rich traditions and customs. The initiation ceremony is a rite of passage for young boys, symbolising their transition to manhood. The festival also promotes cultural exchange and understanding among participating communities.
