The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) President, Hon. Jimmy Akena, has cautioned young Ugandans against joining politics for financial gain, stating that such politicians often fail to serve their voters effectively.
Akena made these remarks during a grassroots mobilisation campaign in Patongo and Arum sub counties, Agago district.
Speaking to supporters in Arum, he emphasised the importance of prioritising the needs of the people, rather than treating politics as a means of personal wealth.
Several political parties, including the National Unity Platform (NUP) and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), have launched nationwide grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Akena expressed confidence that the UPC is well-positioned to win in 2026 and urged the people of Agago to support his leadership, promising positive change under his administration.
